University of Kelaniya

University of Kelaniya is one of the greatest university in Sri Lanka. When we are talking about a university then we have to  talk about not only education but everything. A university creates a man who obtains good soft skills and educational qualifications. So the University of Kelaniya is the same. It provides a good education , a good place to learn and teach , an opportunity to play a lot of sports and the same time it provides great hostel facilities to students who live in remote areas.

Ven. Welamitiyawe Dharmakirthi Sri Kusala Dhamma Thero is the present chancellor and the vice chancellor is Prof. Semasinghe Dissanayake. 




This is the Faculty of Science. 

Not only faculty of science there are seven faculties. Such as,   

• Commerce & Management
• Computing &Technology
• Graduate Studies
• Humanities
• Medicine
• Science
• Social Sciences

 IF this university contains only students then that is not a university.University of Kelaniya contains 600 academic members and 650 non-acedemic members for now.



This photo on right side shows that the university is still growing.This university got birth on 1987 as Vidyalankara Privena for Buddhist monks.The Vidyalankara Privena became the Vidyalankara University in 1959,later the Vidyalankara campus of the University of Ceylon in 1972 and ultimately,the University of Kelaniya in 1978.
